THE COBB BUILDING.
Mr. Van Osdell has completed designs for the S. B. Cobb building, on Dearborn street, between Washington and Madison streets, which is to be a glorious improvement over the old-time brick block on the same sight. It will be four stories in height, of Cleveland sandstone front, and wide enough for five large stores. The three upper stories will be devoted to offices. The lower floor front will be of iron, with a spacious stone entrance to the stairway leading to the second story. A grand arched pediment will surmount the building and be made to correspond with the galvanized iron cornice. Ornamental balustrades will intervene between large round and massive stone columns in the centre of the front of the second story. Corinthian pilasters will also adorn the front. Altogether it will be a building eminently fitted to grace this section of the city. It will cost about $60,000, and will be finished about the first of September.

Tom Andrews.
This celebrated caterer, whose name and rotund physique are alike suggestive of “roast beef rare,” and generous good living in general, has just fitted up a neat and cosy restaurant at No. 1G3 Calhoun place, between Dearborn and Clark,
Washington and Madison streets, in the rear of Cobb’s Building, on Dearborn street. He will be pleased to welcome his old friends and patrons, assuring them of the same attention which in former days made his place so popular.
