CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS DIRECTORY.
One of the most attractive objects of art in the city is the new Business Directory, recently placed in the east entrance to the Chamber of Commerce Building by Messrs. B. F. Chase & Hild, Sign Painters, No. 109 Randolph street. It embraces a seres of stained glass panels, in each of which, elaborately executed in burnished or embossed gold, is the business card of one of our most prominent firms. These panels are set together in a heavy black walnut frame, twelve by eighteen feet in size, richly carved, with arched cornice. supported by pillars and crowned by an elegant triplet arch, which forms a great addition to toe general artistic effect. The lettering is perfect, each letter standing out distinct and clear, and the combination and blending of colors is very method of adverting can hardly be imagined, and the advantages thus afforded for a tasteful and permanent announcement of business will be appreciated when seen. It gives advertisers a very fine opportunity of presenting their names prominently to the eye of the hundreds of business men who daily throng the spacious building of commerce where buyers most do congregate, and the attractiveness of the display will catch and hold the attention where ordinary announcements will be passed by without notice. The designers are intending to prepare three more of similar style, two feet longer than this, and have leased walls in the building for ten years, on which to place their permanent directories. Our business men will, probably, at once appreciate and take advantage of this superior method of advertising.
