Another Wholesale Building.
An important event of the week was the announcement that another big ten story fireproof building is to be erected at the southeast corner of Franklin and Congress streets, in the new wholesale district. It will cover a part of the Lomax property, which was bought last spring by the Brooks estate, will front 105 feet in Franklin street, 111 in Congress street, and will cost about $350,000. The plans of the building are being prepared by Holabird & Roche. When the property was acquired last spring it was announced that it was the purpose of Aldis & Co., who represented the Brooks estate, to improve it as soon as a desirable tenant could be secured.
Negotiations have just been closed by which the building will be occupied under a ten years’ lease by Kohn Bros., clothing manufacturers, at an annual rent of $39,000, or $390,000 for the term. Charles H. Rounds of Rounds & Clough represented the lessee firm in the transaction. The rapid manner in which this district has built up during the last two or three years is surprising. Opposite, at the northeast cornet of the two streets, is the large ten story building occupied by B. Kuppenheimer & Co. A block away are the buildings of Wilson Bros, and Cluett, Peabody & Co. Hart Bros. occupy the ten story building erected by Washington Porter at Congress street and Fifth avenue. Rosenwald & Weil are at the southwest corner of Franklin and Congress streets.

Lease in Kohn Building.
Charles H. Rounds has leased the second, third, and fourth floors of the new Kohn Bros. building now being erected at the southeast corner of Franklin and Congress streets to Alfred Decker & Cohn and others for ten years from Jan. 1, 1908, at an aggregate rent of $150,000.
