FIRE IN THE 1ST DISTRICT.-About 6 o’clock yesterday morning a fire broke out in a large four story brick building in the alley, known as Broadway Place, near she corner of Wells and Madison streets. The building was occupied by Wm. B. Young & Co., Sewing Machine Manufacturers, who have an office at No. 132 Lake street. The stock was damaged to the amount of $100, and covered by insurance. The building is owned by Burley & Tyrrel, and is only slightly damaged. The fire originated, as is thought, from a defect in the heating arrangements.
