Funeral Services Today for Amariah A. Dewey
Funeral services for Amariah A. Dewey, Civil war veteran and formerly well known on the board of trade, will be held at 3 o’clock this afternoon from home, 5016. Blackstone avenue. Mr. Dewey died Christmas day from ailments incident to old age. He was 83.
Mr. Dewey was a captain in the Civil war and was on same boat with Gen. Grant during the blockade running at Vicksburg. He came to Chicago in 1871. He is survived by three daughters, Helen, Mae, Grace K. and Catherine Dewey Brown, and one son, Allen A. Dewey.
