In the new Orpheum theater, to open Monday, they plan to give six “shows” each day. The Orpheum is the theater that has been trying its best to break into the brilliancy of State street for several weeks last passed. It is located in State street across from the Palmer house, and just at present is white. It is to be a continuous vaudeville theater, the first program to be given at 11 o’clock in the morning.
There are 750 seats, announcements declare, and the plan is to attract and hold the attention of shoppers, sight seers, and others with the State street habit.

Orpheum Theater, Chicago, First High Class Picture Theater.
This was a great boost for moving pictures, as everyone knew that the ground lease was costly. Business has been prosperous, very prosperous, indeed, ever since, and in the course of time the success of the Orpheum induced exhibitors with capital to get away from the old “store” theater into modern beautiful buildings.
