The little store occupying but one apartment in the brick block on the southwest corner of State and Madison streets, measuring just 23 by 29 feet, has been rented for five years at the enormous rate of three thousand dollars a year. Merchants complain that Potter Palmer’s improvements on State street have raised their rents to about double former prices.
